Iordanis Karagiannidis is
a Professor and the Associate Dean of Curriculum, Finance, and Outreach at the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business at the Citadel. He also serves as the Director of the Rick and Mary Lee Bastin Financial Leadership Lab. Before his appointment at The Citadel, he was a Professor of Practice in the finance department at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, where he also served as the Director of the Financial Analysis Laboratory. In 2013 he founded KB-Analytics, LLC, a consulting and spreadsheet modeling training company where he served as a principal until 2021. He received his Ph.D. in Finance and Economics (minor) from Michigan State University in 2007, an M.B.A. in finance and international business from Rutgers University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia in Greece. He teaches financial modeling, investments, valuation, and corporate finance at the undergraduate and M.B.A. level, and he has received the “Excellence in Teaching” award at the Citadel (2015) and twice at Michigan State University (2006 and 2009). In December of 2015, he also received the faculty spotlight award for excellence in teaching, research, and service from The Citadel. His research interests include mutual fund performance and organization, financial networks, investments, and portfolio management, and his work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Empirical Finance, the Review of Financial Economics, the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, and the Journal of Education for Business.
