Iordanis Karagiannidis
, Ph.D., NACD.DC, is Professor of Finance and Associate Dean for Curriculum, Finance, and Outreach at The Citadel’s Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business. He also serves as Director of the Rick and Mary Lee Bastin Financial Leadership Lab. His leadership responsibilities include strategic planning, curriculum and program development, financial resource allocation, faculty development, AACSB accreditation, and external engagement. Since joining The Citadel in 2011, he has helped establish the school’s standalone finance major, expand experiential learning, and advance fundraising initiatives supporting academic programs and student opportunities. An award-winning educator, Dr. Karagiannidis teaches financial modeling, investments, valuation, and corporate finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focuses on mutual fund performance and organizational structure, investments, financial networks, and higher-education finance. His work has appeared in the Journal of Empirical Finance, Review of Financial Economics, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, and Journal of Education for Business, among other journals. Before joining The Citadel, he served as Professor of Practice in Finance and Director of the Financial Analysis Laboratory at Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance with a minor in Economics from Michigan State University, an M.B.A. from Rutgers University, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia in Greece. He also earned an Executive Certificate in Higher Education Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education and holds the National Association of Corporate Directors’ Directorship Certification.
